북해연안 충돌 선박 구조 작전

'시작하다'의 의미는 무조건(그냥 무조건으로 생각하자.) launch 다. 잠수함을 진수시키는 것, 조사를 시작하는 것, 신상품을 선보이는 것 등등 모두 launch로 표현이 가능하다. 북해는 정관사 the 를 붙여 the North Sea로 부른다. 고유명사니까 North Sea 로 하면 되지 않느냐? 안된다. 지구 저 멀리 어딘가에서 North Sea 로 불리는 또 다른 바다가 있는지 누가 알겠는가. 아래 위키페디아에 등록된 것만해도 몇 개나 되지 않는가.(맨아래 참고.)

접속사 as는 기본적으로 동시동작의 상황을 의미한다.

선박 등이 충돌하다에 사용되는 전혀적인 동사가 collide 이다. '실종되다'의 경우 수동태가 be being missed 가 아닌 be missing 인 점에 주의하자. 헷갈리기 쉽다.

through 는 기본적으로 처음부터 끝까지의 의미. 밤새도록 달려가다..로 해석하면 되겠다.
