우연히 크리스 디 버그 DVD 를 돌리는 와중에.. 인터뷰에 와인이야기가 나오길래 캡쳐. 와인 라벨(?)만 보고 무슨 와인인지 안다면 당신은 와인 고수? (한글자막을 지원하지 않아 대충 알아 들었는데.. 돈 좀 되는 와인이 많은 것 같았다..) 그와 관련된 정보를 보면 심심찮게 와인에 대한 글을 접할 수 있다.

He has a complete collection of Mouton vintages from 1945, many of those in magnum, which he adds to every vintage. Now de Burgh – who stresses he collects to drink, not for investment – has decided it’s time to sell many of the jewels of his collection, such as the Latour and the Lafite. ‘I didn’t buy them to sell but I’m going to sell them,’ he told Decanter.com last week, during a promotional tour for his new album Moonfleet & Other Stories. And the reason he gives is that he feels that to break open the cases would be sacrilege. ‘The Lafite is lying in the same straw in which it was packed. Singer Chris de Burgh has announced plans to auction off his collection of fine wines and champagne at Christie’s King Street saleroom in London on 24 March.

Earlier in January Andrew Lloyd Webber sold a selection of wines from his collection at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, raising £3.5 million — some of those sold reached almost 60% above market value. The sale was of 748 lots with an estimated value of up to £2.6million.

Part of Webber’s cellar was sold in London by Sotheby’s back in 1997 and took in £3.7 million. Webber’s 1997 sale of 1,412 lots included more than 18,000 bottles and its highlight was the so-called “millennium dream cellar super lot” which comprised an imperial, three double magnums, two jeroboams, 77 magnums and 265 bottles of historic wines that sold for £242,000 to Rio Hotels of Las Vegas. Just three bottles failed to sell.
